Dr. Rahm on Style, Confidence, and the Power of How We Show Up

Wellness is often discussed in terms of nutrition, movement, sleep, environment, and mindset. But I believe wellness is much bigger than any single routine. It is about the whole person and the choices we make every day that influence how we feel, how we think, and how we show up in the world.

One of those choices is something most of us make every morning: what we wear.

Clothing is practical, but it is also deeply personal. What we choose to wear can reflect our personality, our confidence, our creativity, and even the energy we want to bring into the day.

The Connection Between Style and Mindset

Think about the difference between putting on something simply because it is available and intentionally choosing an outfit that makes you feel confident.

The circumstances around you may not have changed, but sometimes the way you carry yourself does.

Researchers have explored the relationship between clothing, cognition, perception, and behavior, including a concept sometimes referred to as "enclothed cognition." While clothing is certainly not a substitute for genuine confidence or well-being, what we wear may influence how we perceive ourselves and approach certain situations.

For me, getting dressed can be another opportunity to practice intentionality.

Wellness Is About the Whole Person

Throughout my work, I have always believed in looking at the whole person.

Our physical health does not exist separately from our environment, experiences, relationships, habits, or emotional well-being. All of these elements interact and contribute to how we experience our lives.

That does not mean every choice needs to be perfect. It means becoming more aware of what makes us feel energized, confident, comfortable, and connected to ourselves.

Personal style can be one small but meaningful part of that bigger picture.

Style Should Celebrate Individuality

We live in a world that constantly tells us what we should buy, wear, look like, and become.

I have never believed that we are meant to fit into one mold.

True personal style is about understanding yourself. The colors you gravitate toward, the silhouettes you feel confident wearing, and the pieces you return to again and again can become an expression of who you are.

I believe the same principle applies to wellness.

There is no single lifestyle or routine that works perfectly for everyone. Learning to understand yourself, your body, your environment, your goals, and your needs is an important part of creating a life that feels sustainable and authentic.

Choosing With Intention

This philosophy is one of the reasons I appreciate Merci Dupré Clothiers and its emphasis on personal style, quality, and individuality.

I love the idea of choosing things with greater intention, whether we are talking about what we put into our bodies, what we bring into our homes, how we spend our time, or what we choose to wear.

The decisions we make every day become our habits, and those habits ultimately become part of the lives we create.

So the next time you open your closet, consider asking yourself a different question.

Not simply, "What should I wear?"

Instead, ask:

"How do I want to show up today?"

Sometimes a small shift in perspective can turn an ordinary part of the day into an opportunity to live with greater confidence and intention.
